40 Years Of Long Experience In The Army, Expert In Curbing Terrorism, Know The New CDS Of The Country, Anil Chauhan

New Delhi: The Modi government at the Center has appointed the new Chief of Defense Staff of the country today. The government has appointed retired Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan as the new Chief of Defense of the country. Anil Chauhan will be the second CDS in the country. He retired on 31 May 2021 after serving for nearly 40 years in the Army. The Defense Ministry informed that the Government of India appointed Lt Gen Anil Chauhan (Retd) as the next Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), who will also serve as Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, Government of India. Also said that in a career spanning over 40 years, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan (Retd) had held several command, staff, and assistant appointments and had vast experience in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir and North-East India.

Who is Anil Chauhan

Lt Gen Retd Anil Chauhan was born on 18 May 1961. He comes from Uttarakhand like the former CDS General Bipin Rawat. He joined the 11 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army in 1981. He has held various positions during his long service in the army. When he was in the rank of Major General, he handled the Infantry Division in the Baramulla Sector of the Northern Command. He later commanded a corps in the Northeast. In 2019, he became the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command. He remained in this position till his retirement. He retired on 31 May 2021.

They have no emphasis on the operation against terrorism. He has taken many big decisions continuously against terrorism. They can play an important role in controlling terrorism. He is also said to be very close to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. His role in cleaning up the insurgency in the Northeast has also been commendable. He has previously served as the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the Indian Army. The new CDS are alumni of Kendriya Vidyalaya Kolkata, National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla, and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He belongs to the Rajput family of Gharwal. During his career, he has been awarded Param Vishisht Seva Medal (2020), Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (2018), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal, and Vishisht Seva Medal for his service.
