‘Won’t Tolerate Spreading Lies Against Rahul’, Congress Said – Legal Action Will Be Taken

New Delhi: The Congress on Monday said spreading lies against its top leader Rahul Gandhi will no longer be tolerated and appropriate legal action will be taken against those who do so. The party’s media and campaign chief Pawan Khera also told that complaints have been lodged against former Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and some other BJP leaders in six states in connection with the broadcast of a video of Rahul Gandhi linked to the Udaipur incident. An FIR has also been lodged in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.

It is noteworthy that Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh had written a letter to BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda on Saturday, asking him to apologize on behalf of his leaders for spreading ‘lies’ about Rahul Gandhi, otherwise legal action would be taken. The video of Rahul Gandhi was broadcast on a news channel. Congress says that its former president remarked about the alleged attack by SFI workers on Rahul Gandhi’s office in his parliamentary constituency Wayanad, which was linked to the Udaipur incident by a channel. Later this channel apologized for its mistake.

Kheda told reporters on Monday, “Our general secretary Jairam Ramesh Ji had given Nadda Ji 24 hours. No reply till last night. We have lodged complaints against Rathore and some other BJP leaders in six states- Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Chhattisgarh. An FIR has also been lodged in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur.” Targeting Rathore, party spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said, “You are part of a bigger conspiracy. You are fanning the fire of bigotry and even dare to link Rahul Gandhi with terrorists. It won’t be tolerated.”

She also said, “The Prime Minister gave a 28-minute speech yesterday in Hyderabad, but did not utter two words to correct the atmosphere in the country.” If you spread lies against our top leader Rahul Gandhi, it will not be tolerated. Appropriate legal action will be taken.
