From Despair to Dignity: Indian Army’s Rising Star Corps Rebuilds Lives in Kathua

REACHING WHERE HOPE SEEMED UNREACHABLE – INDIAN ARMY BRINGS RELIEF & RESILIENCE TO FLOOD HIT VILLAGES OF KATHUA

Kathua, 7 September 2025 : When relentless rains and flash floods ravaged Kathua district, cutting off lifelines and drowning villages in despair, it was the Indian Army that became the bridge of hope. In Diluan, Manjali, Parala, Jamalpur and Bijjat, where waters had marooned families and left uncertainty looming large, soldiers of the Rising Star Corps stepped forward with courage and compassion.

With army JCBs paving way by relentlessly working day & night over two days through submerged terrain and cleared debris-laden routes, carving pathways where none existed. These machines of steel, guided by soldiers’ hearts of service, opened doors for relief to flow into the heart of devastation.

For 200 households, 650 men, women and children – life had changed overnight. Yet, the Army stood at every doorstep, offering food, clean drinking water, and even chocolates for children whose laughter had been swept away by the floods. In those tender gestures, the uniform became more than duty, it became a symbol of care, reassurance, and shared humanity.

This relief mission reflects the Army’s timeless ethos: always mission-ready, but forever people-first. In Kathua’s battered villages, soldiers didn’t just deliver supplies, they restored dignity, rekindled bonds, and returned the rhythm of life to broken communities.

As waters recede, the Army’s resolve stands tall. Resources remain ready, soldiers remain committed, and the spirit of service remains unshaken. Where roads end and despair begins, the Indian Army arrives not only with the strength of steel, but with hearts that beat for every Indian.
