Tragic End to Love Story: Couple Found Hanging from Neem Tree in Meerut, Suicide Suspected

The discovery of sindoor and the manner of the incident hint at a premeditated suicide after marriage

Meerut: In a heart-wrenching incident, the lifeless bodies of a young couple were found hanging from a neem tree in a sugarcane field near Ramraj Ganganhar Patti, in the Bahsuma police station area. The police, upon initial inspection, suspect that the couple may have taken their own lives in a tragic love story that took a dark turn.

The couple, whose identities remain unknown, gave clear indications of having tied the knot before meeting their untimely demise. A box of sindoor (vermilion) found at the scene, along with sindoor applied on the woman’s forehead, strongly suggests that they might have chosen to end their lives after entering into matrimony.

The incident came to light when a passerby spotted the couple hanging from the neem tree and immediately alerted the police. Law enforcement officers reached the spot and brought down the bodies for further investigation. Failing to identify the couple at the scene, the police proceeded to conduct a post-mortem at the Meerut Post-mortem House.

The initial findings suggest a grim possibility of a premeditated suicide, with the sindoor box acting as a poignant symbol of their union. It is believed that the couple first got married and then, standing together on a motorcycle, hanged themselves from the neem tree. Subsequently, they kicked the motorcycle away, leaving them suspended from the noose.

As the investigation unfolds, the police are working to uncover any potential motives or factors that might have led to this tragic event. The bodies have been sent for further forensic examination, and the police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
