Red Cross Day Celebrated in Ghaziabad with Lifesaving Initiatives and Community Commitment

Ghaziabad : Marking the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, the founder of the world’s largest humanitarian organization, the Indian Red Cross Society’s Ghaziabad chapter observed Red Cross Day with a series of impactful community service programs under the guidance of District Magistrate and IRCS President Deepak Meena (IAS).
The celebrations included a blood donation camp, a motivational session on blood donation awareness, and the adoption of 50 tuberculosis (TB) patients for six months, during which they will receive nutritional food kits to support their recovery. The program was supported by Rotary Club Ghaziabad Heritage.
The event began with the ceremonial lamp lighting and floral tributes to Bharat Mata and Henry Dunant, led by Gambhir Singh, ADM (City), and attended by several dignitaries including Dr. Sangeeta Goyal, Health Director; Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chief Medical Superintendent; Dr. Charan Singh, Major Dr. Prachi Garg, and other senior doctors and civic leaders.
ADM Singh urged industrialists, academicians, and government officers of Ghaziabad to enroll as Red Cross members, strengthening the mission of selfless service in the district. Inspired by the service ethos of the Red Cross, Singh and his wife also enrolled as lifetime members, receiving certificates from Dr. Subhash Gupta, Chairperson of the event.
In a strong message of peace and solidarity, Dr. Gupta emphasized that while the Red Cross stands for peace and universal brotherhood, it takes a resolute stance against terrorism, recognizing it as a threat to global harmony.

The program also saw active blood donation participation from Civil Defence volunteers and local youth. Inspired by the day’s message, government school teachers Neetu Singh, Anshu Singh, and Anjali Agnihotri pledged to expand Red Cross membership, each committing to bring in at least 10 new members.
