Police Encounter Claims Life of Robbery Suspect Wanted for Attack on Engineering Student

Ghaziabad: In a chilling turn of events, an encounter with police resulted in the death of a man who was wanted in connection with a robbery attempt that had tragic consequences. The incident occurred on October 27, when two assailants on a motorcycle tried to snatch a mobile phone from Kirti Singh, a first-year engineering student at ABES Engineering College in Ghaziabad. Tragically, the encounter with the robbers led to Kirti’s fall from an auto-rickshaw, causing severe head injuries. Kirti fought for her life but succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, October 29.

The primary suspect, identified as Bobbil alias Balbir, was arrested by the police after an intense encounter, during which he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. However, the second assailant, Jitendra alias Jeetu, managed to escape the scene.

Jeetu, a man with a criminal record and nine cases registered against him, had been on the run since the robbery attempt. On October 30, police located and cornered Jeetu, leading to an encounter. During the confrontation, Jeetu opened fire on the police, injuring one officer who is currently receiving medical treatment.

The encounter ultimately resulted in the death of Jeetu, who was found to be involved in the snatching that led to Kirti Singh’s untimely demise. This incident has cast a shadow of grief and shock over the community and highlights the urgency of ensuring the safety and security of residents in Ghaziabad.

Investigations are ongoing to bring full closure to this tragic chain of events, and the police continue their efforts to apprehend and bring to justice those involved in the robbery and the subsequent encounter.
