No Plastic Please ;19 Items Made Of Single-use Plastic Are Banned From Today

Noida : To curb the increasing ill effects of plastic on the environment, the government has banned single-use plastic across the country today. After this decision of the government, now the sale of many things made of plastic will stop. There are many such things made of plastic in daily life that everyone uses. The Union Environment Ministry has also released a list, which has been banned.

The government believes that banning the use of single-use plastic will reduce the amount of its waste. Because recycling single-use plastic is difficult and expensive. Therefore, most of it goes back into the environment in some form or the other, which harms nature in many ways.

Every day 26,000 tonnes of plastic waste is generated in India, of which only 60 percent is collected. The remaining forty percent of the plastic waste is found lying in the rivers and streams of the country. Let us tell you that along with issuing the list, the Union Environment Ministry has also issued instructions to implement it strictly. The ministry has given strict instructions that if any person is found using single-use plastic, then legal action will be taken against him. Violators of the order can be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years, with a fine which may extend to one lakh rupees or both. At the same time, the violator can also be fined five thousand rupees per day.

  • Film wrapping or packing sweet boxes
  • invitation card
  • cigarette packets
  • Banners made from plastic or PVC less than 100 microns
  • stirrer

The Union Environment Ministry has directed all the states to keep a watch on the illegal manufacture, deposit, and sale of single-use plastics. The ministry has at present exempted the FMCG sector from this ban.
