NDA Presidential Candidate, JP Nadda Announced after The Parliamentary Board Meeting

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the candidate for the Presidential election on behalf of the NDA. The party has nominated Draupadi Murmu as its candidate. Earlier, a meeting of the BJP’s Parliamentary Board was held at the party headquarters to brainstorm the name of the Presidential candidate.

In this meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and other members of the Parliamentary Board were present in the meeting.

After the meeting, BJP President JP Nadda said that in today’s parliamentary board meeting, all of us came to the opinion that BJP and NDA, after talking to all their constituents, should declare our candidate for the President. Draupadi Murmu has been announced as the presidential candidate by the NDA.

He said that about 20 names were discussed in the meeting. We also tried to consult the opposition parties, but the matter did not work out. UPA has declared the candidate.

After this announcement, PM Modi tweeted and said, “Millions of people, especially those who have experienced poverty and faced hardships, derive great strength from the life of Draupadi Murmu. His understanding and compassionate nature of policy matters will greatly benefit our country.

Sources said that Draupadi Murmu may file her nomination on June 25. BJP has asked all its union ministers to stay in Delhi on June 24 and 25.

Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha has been fielded as a joint candidate by the opposition parties for the presidential election. The term of the current President Ram Nath Kovind ends on July 24. After the announcement of Sinha’s name as the opposition candidate, voting for the next President’s election is now being held on July 18. The process of filling out nomination papers for the Presidential election is underway. June 29 is the last date for filing nominations.

It is worth noting that the BJP-led NDA is in a strong position on the basis of numbers in the presidential election and if it gets the support of parties like BJD or the ruling YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh, then its victory will be certain.
