The northeastern state of Manipur went to polls in two phases on February 28 and March 5. In Manipur, 78.03 per cent of the total registered 12.09 lakh voters exercised their franchise for 38 seats in the first phase of assembly elections till 5 pm on Monday, an hour after the scheduled time. In the second and final phase of assembly elections in Imphal, Manipur, 76.04 per cent polling was recorded in 22 seats on Saturday. The election results will come on March 10. Before that, in all the exit polls, speculations have been made about the political equation of the state.

India Today Axis My India exit poll has predicted a thumping majority for the BJP in Manipur. BJP is expected to get 33 to 43 seats in Manipur. While Congress can get 4 to 8 seats and NPP 4 to 8 seats. In the account of others 6 to 15 seats are seen going. According to the exit poll of C Voter, BJP is getting 23 to 27 seats, Congress 12 to 16 seats and NPP 10 to 14 seats in Manipur. While NPF is estimated to get 3 to 7 seats. Jan Ki Baat has predicted 23 to 28 seats for the BJP in Manipur. 10 to 14 seats can go in the account of Congress. 7 to 8 seats can go to NPP and 5 to 8 seats can go to the account of NPF.

In the year 2017, the BJP performed a miracle which could not be done in the last two elections. BJP had achieved this victory in the year 2017 on the basis of old Congress leader N Biren Singh. N Biren Singh left the Congress party and joined the BJP in the year 2016. Biren Singh strengthened the BJP and won 21 seats in the 2017 elections. Congress failed to form government in Manipur despite winning 28 seats. After only 4 months of hard work, the BJP overthrew the Congress power in Manipur that had been there for 15 years.
