Major Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Trade in Ghaziabad: Three Arrested

Ghaziabad: In a significant operation against the illicit sale and transportation of alcohol, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the guidance of the Commissioner and Excise Commissioner of the state, executed a targeted crackdown. This move is part of an ongoing campaign to curb the illegal liquor trade, following the state’s directive.
Late Monday night, a joint team comprising officials from the Excise Department of Janpad-Ghaziabad and the Kaushambi Police raided a hideout in Mohalla-Bhovapur, near the E.D.M. Mall. The operation resulted in the apprehension of three individuals involved in the unauthorized sale of high-potency liquor across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana.


The seized contraband included 90 bottles of Royal Green Whiskey (180 ml each), 64 bottles of White and Blue Whiskey (180 ml each), 64 bottles of Kings Gold Whiskey (180 ml each), 37 bottles of Rankford Classic Whiskey (180 ml each), 47 bottles of Hundred Piper Scotch Whiskey (180 ml each), 120 cans of Medusa Premium Strong Beer (500 ml each), 19 cans of Jinsberg Classic Strong Beer (500 ml each), and 216 pouches of Miss India brand Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) in 200 ml pouches (a total of 302 pouches of foreign liquor, 139 cans of beer, and 216 pouches of IMFL, totaling 167.06 liters). Additionally, a TVS Jupiter scooter was also confiscated.

The arrested individuals, identified as Saurabh, son of Surendra Singh, resident of Gajipur, Delhi; Amit Pratap Singh, son of Lalji Singh, resident of Khera Dewat Mandir, Bhovapur, Ghaziabad; and Sumit Singh, son of Ram Singh, resident of Vaishali, Ghaziabad, disclosed during the interrogation that they were operating under the instructions of Rakesh, a resident of Jhandapur, Ghaziabad. Rakesh allegedly paid them Rs. 1000/- daily for carrying out the operations.
The trio has been booked under relevant sections of the Excise Act and subsequently sent to jail after the registration of an FIR at the Kaushambi Police Station in Janpad-Ghaziabad. This crackdown is a crucial step in the state’s effort to eradicate the illegal liquor trade and maintain law and order.
