Kangana Ranaut Slapped by CISF Personnel at Chandigarh Airport

Chandigarh: In a shocking incident, actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a female Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at Chandigarh airport on Thursday. The altercation reportedly occurred during a security check.

According to sources, the incident took place as the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, was passing through security at the Chandigarh airport, a woman CISF officer from Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab’s Kapurthala district, who is also the sister of farmer leader Sher Singh Malhiwal, slapped the actress-politician.

The CISF has taken swift action, suspending the constable involved and filing a complaint against her at the local police station. A senior CISF officer confirmed the suspension and the filing of an FIR in connection with the incident.

Kangana Ranaut’s Statement

In a video message, Kangana Ranaut addressed the incident, reassuring her supporters and the media of her safety. “I am getting a lot of phone calls, from the media as well as my well-wishers. First of all, I am safe, I am perfectly fine. The incident that happened today at Chandigarh airport was during the security check. As soon as I came out after the security check, the lady in the second cabin, a CISF security staff came from the side, hit me on my face and started abusing me. When I asked her why she did so, she said that she supports farmers’ protest. I am safe but I am concerned about the terrorism and extremism that is increasing in Punjab,” Ranaut said.

The incident has sparked political reactions, with Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh, who recently contested against Ranaut in the Himachal Pradesh Lok Sabha elections, condemning the assault. “This is very unfortunate. This should not happen to anyone, particularly a lady who is a member of Parliament now. There were some grievances of the CISF constable regarding the farmer’s protest but assaulting someone like this is unfortunate. We condemn this and action should be taken by the Government against this,” Singh stated.

The altercation comes just days after Kangana Ranaut’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi, where she defeated Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh by 74,755 votes. Following the incident, Ranaut left for Delhi on a Vistara flight at 3 pm. The situation has raised concerns about airport security protocols and the safety of public figures.

This incident at Chandigarh airport has not only highlighted the tense atmosphere surrounding the farmers’ protests but also raised questions about the conduct and training of security personnel. As investigations continue, the focus remains on ensuring justice and maintaining security standards at public places.
