Ghaziabad: Surendra Kumar, a resident of Hardoi, presently residing in Nandgram lodged a complaint that his younger brother Suraj was murdered by unknown person. Maintaining utmost secrecy and ensuring that the suspect remained unaware, a special team was formed to investigate the case. The team gathered crucial evidence, including CCTV camera footage, to establish a timeline of events and the suspect’s whereabouts. On October 14, 2023, acting on a tip-off, the police swiftly apprehended the suspect in the Machhli Godam area near Merut Road, Ghaziabad.
The following items were recovered from the suspect:
- The murder weapon – a brick (Interlocking Tile)
- The victim’s mobile phone (Oppo CPH)
- A motorcycle used in the incident (Hero Splendor with registration number UP 14 FR 4833)
The suspect’s identity and whereabouts have been officially documented in the case. The suspect was identified as Prashant Prajpati. Providing a detailed account of the incident, Prashant shared that he encountered the suspect while returning home from work. Around 11 PM, he saw a man who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, carrying a mobile phone. He offered to help the inebriated suspect get safely to his home to prevent any untoward incident.
He then led the suspect to a secluded spot near the jungles behind Tej Ram’s School in Dasna, Ghaziabad. After committing the crime, he seized the murder weapon and managed to subdue the suspect, preventing any further harm. He also confiscated the suspect’s mobile phone.
