
Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Police has managed to solve several cases related to internet fraud and help people get back their money amounting to Rs. 1,0,60,2403/- (Rupees one crore six lakh two thousand four hundred three) duped from people in various ways from January 2022 to September 2022.
Cyber expert says that money transferred in the case of online shopping by taking information of a credit or debit card can be recovered provided the information is provided to the police’s cyber cell in time. With the rise in the rate of cybercrimes in Ghaziabad, SSP Muniraj G had activated the city police’s cyber cell by assigning SP Crime and CO City 1 as Nodal officers. Over the past 9 months, the cell has been successful in recovering an around One Crore reported stolen by as many as 171 victims of cyber fraud.
With more and more people opting for digital transactions each day, cybercrimes in India are also proliferating at a rapid pace. Online fraudsters have adopted the modus operandi of calling innocent people on their mobile and enticing them with lucrative offers. Unaware of the fraudulent tactics, the innocent customers fall under the trap and end up losing their money,” Incharge, Cyber Cell said.
The Cyber Cell has further asked the people to directly call on the helpline number 1930 manned and operated by the state police to report cases of cyber fraud
