GHAZIABAD: In response to the soaring temperatures and ongoing heatwave, District Magistrate Indra Vikram Singh has ordered the closure of all schools up to Class 8 in Ghaziabad. The directive, issued on May 19, 2024, mandates that these schools remain shut from May 20 to May 25, 2024, to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
The decision comes as Ghaziabad experiences extreme daytime temperatures and intense hot winds, posing significant health risks. Women and young girls have been seen covering their faces to protect themselves from the scorching heat and the harsh gusts of wind.

District Magistrate Singh emphasized the need for this precautionary measure to safeguard children from the adverse effects of the heatwave. “The well-being of our students is of utmost importance. Given the current weather conditions, it is necessary to take these steps to prevent any heat-related illnesses,” he stated.

Residents have been advised to stay indoors during peak heat hours and take necessary precautions if venturing outside. The local administration is also working to raise awareness about the dangers of heat exposure and ways to mitigate its impact.
The temporary closure of schools aims to minimize children’s exposure to the extreme weather conditions and ensure they remain safe and healthy during this period. Authorities will continue to monitor the weather situation and provide updates as necessary.

For more information and updates, parents and guardians are encouraged to stay in touch with school authorities and follow official advisories issued by the district administration.
