Foreign Nationals Arrested for Drug Trafficking from Delhi to Nepal; Large Quantity of Smack Seized
Ghaziabad: A team from the Crime Branch has apprehended foreign nationals on charges of smuggling narcotics from Delhi to Nepal. The suspects were found in possession of 415 grams of smack, which has an approximate international market value of 20 lakh rupees.
According to ACP Crime, Sachchidanand, the team acted on specific information and detained two foreign nationals who were in possession of the illegal substance. It was revealed during the interrogation that the accused were en route to Baghpat to deliver the contraband. The detained individuals, identified as Innocent from Nigeria and a woman from Tanzania, are now in police custody.
It was also discovered that Innocent had previously entered India in 2019 on a tourist visa. After their arrest, the suspects failed to produce their passports and visas. A case under the Foreigners Act has been registered against them. The Ministry of External Affairs has been informed of the situation.
Innocent’s female accomplice is still in possession of a valid tourist visa until November. Investigations have unveiled that several foreign nationals, who are residing in India without proper documentation, are being targeted by drug traffickers for the supply of narcotics. These foreign nationals, due to their illegal presence in the country, are being exploited for illicit activities.
Innocent and his associates had a local supplier in Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh who also operated in Punjab and Nepal. For each supply, they earned 25,000 rupees. The investigation is ongoing, and Innocent has deleted his phone’s call history.
This case highlights the need for vigilant monitoring and law enforcement to combat drug trafficking through international routes.
