‘Decisive control’ achieved over militancy in J&K: HM Amit Shah

National Desk (NewsReach) : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday praised the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for playing a key role in the fight against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in Kashmir, Naxalism and extremist forces in the Northeast. To prepare a roadmap Shah was addressing a gathering on the 83rd Raising Day of CRPF at Maulana Azad Stadium here. This is the first time that the parade has been organized outside the headquarters of CRPF located in Delhi-NCR.

Shah said at the CRPF Day Parade, “CRPF is not only a central armed police force but it is loved by every child of the country for its bravery and courage. Whenever there are riots anywhere in the country, the deployment of CRPF gives satisfaction to the people.

Shah said, “Whether it is the Naxal-affected region of central India, Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in Kashmir or insurgent forces in the Northeast, the CRPF has played an important role in eliminating such groups and restoring peace in all the three regions.” He said that CRPF has played a commendable role across the country. He said there would be no need to redeploy the CRPF in the three areas in the next few years. “I am sure that we will be able to restore peace and if it happens, the credit will go to the CRPF jawans,” he said, adding that the CRPF has played a commendable role across the country. Shah said there was a time in the 1990s when militancy in the Northeast and Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in Kashmir were at their peak and everyone in the country was worried. “Within two decades, the CRPF with its dedication and determination fought against the anti-national forces which are now on the verge of extinction,” he said. I congratulate the bravery shown by you in the violence affected areas of the three regions. It is because of your professional handling of the situation that the countrymen are able to breathe peacefully.

Shah said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target of making India a five trillion (trillion) economy and this can be achieved if internal security is strengthened.” “I ask CRPF Director General Kuldeep Singh to prepare a roadmap to modernize the force and meet the upcoming challenges by procuring latest equipment,” he said. A capable and effective force has to be created.

Shah said, “We have to work in this direction and I am sure that under the leadership of Kuldeep Singh, CRPF will take it forward.” He appreciated the contribution of CRPF in ensuring free and fair elections in the country. “Whether it is the Lok Sabha elections or the Assembly elections, the force plays the biggest role. Free and fair elections are the soul of democracy.” The Home Minister also praised the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and said dealing with riots by using minimum force shows its training.
