Big Relief For 10-15 Year Old Car Owners, Government Issued New Guidelines

The Delhi Transport Department has issued a new guideline for cars that are 10 to 15 years old. Delhi Transport Department has directed the National Green Tribunal ( NGT ) to issue No Objection Certificate (NOC) for all de-registered 10-15 year old diesel vehicles for all states except restricted areas. The new guidelines also include petrol vehicles which are more than 15 years old. However, for diesel vehicles older than 15 years, no NOC will be issued from their first registration and such vehicles will only be scrapped.

The Delhi government has started buying electric vehicles by discontinuing its old petrol and diesel vehicles. The GDA has recently procured 12 electric vehicles to be used by ministers and top officials of the Delhi government. Let us tell you that NGT has banned diesel vehicles which are more than 10 years old and petrol vehicles which are 15 years old in Delhi. To save these vehicles from becoming junk, the Delhi government has given the option of obtaining NOC for retro fitment and registration of vehicles in other cities of the country. There are no restrictions in these cities, old vehicles can be re-registered there.

NOC will be issued for old vehicles
All the registering authorities or regional transport offices of the Transport Department can issue NOCs for diesel, petrol and CNG vehicles for transfer of vehicles to other states. The order said that NOC will also be issued for those districts or states from where the transport department has neither received the information nor has it been uploaded on the respective websites.

NOC issued by the Transport Department, Government of Delhi will be withdrawn for other states if the concerned RTO/Registration Officer refuses to register the vehicle as ordered.

5% off on new car purchase
If the owner of the vehicle wants to use the vehicle even after the period of 10 and 15 years, then he has to obtain the fitness certificate of the vehicle. If the vehicle fails this fitness test, it will be scrapped. If you are scrapping an old vehicle, then customers will get a discount of 5 percent on showing the certificate of buying a new car. Apart from this, the registration of new vehicle will also be waived, which is around Rs 50,000. If you are buying a car worth Rs 5 lakh, then you will get a discount of Rs 25000 at 5% and if you have a scrap certificate, you can get a total of Rs 75,000 from the new car.
