UP Election Result: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Breaks Silence On The Crushing Defeat In UP, Said – Could Not Convert Hard Work Into Votes

The BJP made a strong lead in the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. In most of the seats, the competition was with the SP. Base vote, which has been strength of the BSP, is also seen to be going in favor of BJP this time, while the Congress is also faced the challenge of repeating the result of victory in seven seats last time. The Aam Aadmi Party, which is going to form a thumping majority government in Punjab, is not even seen opening an account in UP. This is for the first time after 37 years, when a government of absolute majority will be formed again continuously.

For the first time, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi took charge of the party’s campaign across Uttar Pradesh, and it was expected that her presence will energise party workers and help in reviving the grand old party. However, the results have been a massive disappointment for the Congress as its 2017 tally of 7 seats further dropped to just 2. The party’s vote share too plunged to just over 2%.

We could not convert our hard work into votes:

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the party’s general secretary and state in-charge, has broken the silence on the crushing defeat of the Congress under her leadership in the assembly elections. She said that Congress workers and leaders worked hard in the elections but could not convert their hard work into votes. Priyanka tweeted after the election results. She said that in a democracy, the opinion of the people is paramount. Our workers and leaders worked hard, formed the organization, fought on the issues of the people. But, we were not able to convert our hard work into votes. The Congress party will continue to fulfill the duty of the opposition struggling for the betterment of UP and the public with full responsibility by following a positive agenda.
