Tributes Paid to Kakori Martyrs on Their Shaheedi Diwas

Patel Nagar: On the occasion of the Shaheedi Diwas of the Kakori martyrs, a heartfelt tribute was paid at the national office of Subhashwadi Bharatiya Samajwadi Party (Subhas Party), located at F-10, Jagdish Nagar. The event commemorated the unparalleled sacrifices of Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil, Shaheed Roshan Singh, Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan, and Shaheed Rajendra Singh Lahiri.

The Kakori Conspiracy, a landmark event in India’s freedom struggle, took place on August 9, 1925, when revolutionaries of the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) seized a British treasury aboard a train. The operation yielded ₹4,601, which the revolutionaries intended to use for purchasing weapons to further their fight for independence. Despite causing no fatalities, the oppressive British regime sentenced the revolutionaries to death for their act of defiance.

Addressing the gathering, National Convenor Satyendra Yadav highlighted the sacrifices made by the martyrs. He recounted the timeline of their executions:

  • Rajendra Singh Lahiri was hanged at Gonda Jail on December 17, 1927.
  • On December 19, 1927,
    • Ram Prasad Bismil was executed in Gorakhpur.
    • Roshan Singh faced the gallows in Allahabad.
    • Ashfaqullah Khan was hanged in Faizabad.

“These brave sons of Bharat Mata gave their lives for the nation’s freedom, laying down everything on the altar of independence,” said National President Ashok Srivastava, emphasizing the eternal debt the nation owes to its martyrs.

Vinod Kumar Akela, addressing the gathering, stressed the need to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of these revolutionaries to address current societal issues. He lamented that today’s political landscape often prioritizes capitalism over the values of nationalism and public welfare that the martyrs fought for.

The solemn ceremony witnessed the participation of several notable attendees, including Manoj Kumar Sharma ‘Hodiya’, Anil Sinha (Bihar State In-charge), Suraj Sanyasi, Harishankar Verma, Digvijay Singh, Ravi Rana, Rajiv Gautam, Gopal , Virendra Kumar Gupta, and many others.

The gathering concluded with a pledge to honor the legacy of the Kakori martyrs by striving for a better and more equitable nation, inspired by their unwavering patriotism and sacrifices.
