Tragic End to a Life: Medical Student Commits Suicide in Ghaziabad Society

Ghaziabad: In a heartbreaking incident, a medical student residing in the ATS Advantage Society in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, took her own life by jumping from the 23rd floor. The young woman’s lifeless body was discovered in the fountain on the ground floor early Saturday morning. The CCTV footage captured the woman falling on Friday evening.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Indirapuram, Swatantra Kumar Singh, revealed that the police received information on Saturday morning about the unfortunate incident in ATS Advantage Society. Upon reaching the scene, the police immediately attempted to identify the body. The deceased was identified as Astha Sharma, the daughter of Ajay Sharma, originally from the Mandi area in Delhi, who was pursuing her education at a private medical institute in Ghaziabad.

The investigation, which lasted for about five hours, included efforts to understand the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Information obtained from the society revealed that the young woman had jumped from the top floor. Upon speaking with the family members, it was revealed that she was undergoing treatment for depression. The initial assessment points towards a case of suicide, pending further investigation and the post-mortem report.

Astha, who had come to visit her friend Rohit Khanna’s flat in the ATS Advantage Society, spent considerable time together on Saturday. Rohit, pursuing a drama course from an acting institute in Mumbai, was supposed to return to Mumbai by a flight at 2 PM on Saturday. Astha arrived at the society at 9 AM and spent the day attending a wedding in Gurugram, returning to the society in the afternoon. After watching a movie together in the evening, she left Rohit’s flat around 6 PM.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock, emphasizing the need for increased awareness and support for mental health issues. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report and further evidence to proceed with the investigation. The details surrounding Astha’s untimely demise highlight the importance of addressing mental health concerns within society.
