Tragic Accident on Delhi-Meerut Expressway: One Dead, Pet Dog Perishes as Parked Car Catches Fire

Ghaziabad : A tragic accident on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway near ABES College claimed the life of a man and his pet dog, after a parked car caught fire following a collision.

According to eyewitnesses and initial reports, the vehicle was halted on the roadside near the Ghaziabad sector of the expressway as the driver attempted to change a flat tyre. While parked, another speeding vehicle collided from behind with a massive impact, leading to a sudden fire in the parked car.

The flames engulfed the vehicle quickly, leaving little time for those inside to escape. One man, reportedly the owner of the car, and his pet dog, who was also in the car, succumbed to the fire. The identity of the deceased has not yet been officially released.

Local authorities and fire department officials rushed to the scene, but by the time the fire was brought under control, the damage had already been done. The expressway traffic was disrupted for nearly an hour as emergency services cleared the wreckage and ensured the area was safe.

Preliminary investigations suggest high speed might have contributed to the rear-end collision. The police have initiated an inquiry and are reviewing CCTV footage from the expressway to understand the exact sequence of events.

This tragic incident once again raises serious concerns about road safety, particularly on high-speed corridors like the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Officials urge all motorists to use hazard lights, reflective cones, and other safety measures when stopping on highways.

The loss of both human and animal life has cast a pall of grief, and locals have called for stricter safety protocols and emergency support mechanisms to prevent such mishaps in the future.
