Tragic AC Blast in Ghaziabad’s Gaurs Gravity Heights Leaves One Dead, One Critically Injured
Ghaziabad, May 31, 2025 – A tragic accident struck the Gaurs Gravity Heights commercial complex in Vaishali Sector-4, under Kaushambi Police Station limits, on Saturday afternoon, claiming the life of one man and leaving another critically injured. The mishap occurred around 2:10 PM on the rooftop of Hotel Walk-In Woods, when a gas cylinder exploded during an air-conditioner gas refilling operation.
The deceased has been identified as Pintu (35), a resident of Khoda, while the injured technician, Pooran Singh (40), son of Chandrapal Singh, also from Khoda, was rushed to Chandra Laxmi Hospital, where his condition remains critical.
According to the initial police report, both individuals were engaged in unauthorized AC repair work and did not operate from a registered service shop. They typically responded to calls and performed services on-site. The explosion occurred when they were refilling gas into the outdoor unit of an AC, causing the compressor to burst, instantly killing Pintu and severely burning Pooran.
Emergency Response and Police Action:
- The PRV 4772 police response vehicle arrived on the scene promptly after receiving a distress call at 2:20 PM.
- Local police, led by Kaushambi Police Station In-Charge, confirmed that a panchayatnama (inquest report) for the deceased has been filed and further legal proceedings are underway.
- Adequate police force is deployed at the scene to maintain law and order, which remains under control.
This incident has raised serious questions about the safety protocols followed by unlicensed technicians operating without any formal infrastructure, particularly in commercial zones where the risks can have wider repercussions.
