Storm Strikes Ghaziabad: ACP Office Roof Collapse Claims Life of Sub-Inspector

Ghaziabad | May 25, 2025
A severe storm that swept through Ghaziabad late at night has led to a tragic incident, claiming the life of a serving police officer. The roof of the ACP Ankur Vihar office collapsed during the storm, resulting in the death of Sub-Inspector Virendra Mishra, aged 58, who was on duty at the time.
Sub-Inspector Mishra, who served as the personal assistant (peshkar) to the ACP Ankur Vihar, was inside the office when the roof gave way under the pressure of heavy rain and strong winds. Emergency teams rushed to the spot, but Mishra was found trapped under the debris and succumbed to his injuries before he could be rescued.
This unfortunate incident has sent shockwaves through the police department and local administration. Colleagues and officials have expressed their grief, remembering Sub-Inspector Mishra as a dedicated officer with decades of service behind him.

Initial reports suggest that the building may have had structural weaknesses, which became fatal when subjected to the pressure of last night’s storm. An inquiry is expected to be launched to determine the cause of the collapse and assess the safety of similar government buildings in the area.
Citizens and civic leaders are demanding a comprehensive review of infrastructure conditions in the wake of rising extreme weather events, which are putting both public property and lives at risk.
Further updates are awaited as the administration begins a formal investigation.
