Lucknow : SIT has been constituted by the DGP Headquarters to investigate the cases registered against Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair in UP. This SIT has been constituted under the chairmanship of IG Jail Preetinder Singh. DIG Amit Verma has been named a member of the SIT.
Additional Director General of Police Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that this SIT has been constituted for the successful disposal of cases registered against Karnataka native Mohammad Zubair in Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, and Hathras of UP.
He said that these cases are registered against Zubair for making sarcastic remarks on the anchors of channels in the said districts, inciting religious sentiments of Hindus, and posting derogatory and provocative posts about deities. Prashant Kumar said that the chairman and members of the SIT can nominate Additional Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police, and Inspectors from their level. The SIT will complete the investigation and investigation as soon as possible and file the charge sheet in court.
