Sahibabad Police Arrest Mastermind Behind Multi-Crore Land Scam

Ghaziabad: A shocking case of forgery and land grabbing has been unraveled by Sahibabad Police. In a major breakthrough, police arrested 72-year-old Rajkumar Garg, a notorious fraudster wanted under the Gangster Act, who was on the run after orchestrating a scam involving land worth crores near Arthala Metro Station.

Rajkumar Garg, originally from Abu Pura in Muzaffarnagar, had been living under a false identity in Madhavpuram, Meerut. Police investigations revealed that Garg forged documents to claim ownership of prime land registered under Rajkumar Agarwal, a resident of GT Road, Sahibabad. Taking advantage of Agarwal’s absence, Garg altered his identity on official documents, including Aadhaar and voter ID, to match that of the original owner.

The Modus Operandi:
Garg meticulously prepared fake property deeds, partnership agreements, and power-of-attorney documents for multiple plots. He posed as the rightful owner and duped unsuspecting buyers, taking token money and vanishing before finalizing any sale. His fraudulent activities were reported in at least seven cases, involving prime land near the Arthala Metro Station.

A Calculated Plan:
Rajkumar Garg began his illegal activities in 2017-18 when he learned about vacant high-value land in Ghaziabad. He changed his name from Garg to Agarwal on his identity documents, closed old bank accounts, and opened new ones under the fake identity. He then used brokers to find buyers for the falsified plots, collecting advance payments before disappearing.

The Arrest:
Acting on a tip-off, Sahibabad Police apprehended Garg and seized documents that further exposed his fraudulent schemes. Garg has admitted to multiple offenses during interrogation, and additional investigations are underway to uncover more victims and accomplices.

Police Action:
Officials emphasized the importance of verifying property documents before making transactions. “This arrest is a significant step in curbing land frauds. Garg exploited loopholes in the system for years, but justice has finally caught up,” a senior police officer stated.

The police have registered fresh cases under various sections and initiated legal proceedings to ensure stringent punishment for Garg.
