Residents Alarmed Over Reckless Garbage Trucks in Rajnagar Extension, Call for Immediate Action

Ghaziabad | Rajnagar Extension |

A wave of concern and frustration is sweeping across Rajnagar Extension as residents raise serious alarm over the increasing recklessness of garbage trucks operating in the area, allegedly with impunity and under the nose of traffic enforcement authorities.

In a recent social media post that has now gone viral among local groups, Shiv Kishore Gaur, a resident of Rajnagar Extension, narrated his disturbing encounter with four garbage trucks coming from the City Forest side. The trucks, reportedly filled to capacity with waste, lacked rear number plates, a clear violation of basic traffic norms. One of the truck drivers was seen talking on the phone, driving without a seatbelt, and failing to produce a valid driving license when questioned.

“I was also driving my car and could not do much, but I did manage to stop them briefly at the River Heights roundabout,” Gaur wrote. “I called the traffic police sitting nearby and told them about a recent fatal accident near Officer’s City. But shockingly, instead of verifying documents or taking action, all four trucks were promptly let go and they continued toward Brave Heart Society via Ajnara Integrity.”

Gaur, who admitted he isn’t a legal expert, expressed deep suspicion about the possible nexus between enforcement officers and violators, adding, “The trucks were released faster than even two-wheelers are let go. It felt like this whole racket is operating in plain sight, possibly with police complicity.”

His post referred to a tragic incident earlier this month where an app-based delivery rider was crushed to death by a speeding truck near the Officer’s City intersection, a case that drew significant local media attention but evidently has not led to systemic changes.

Adding to the outrage, another resident, Vinay Singh, shared his own frightening experience from the same day:
“At 8:55 AM, a dumper was speeding in the wrong direction in front of Rama Heights, headed toward the CNG pump. The vehicle was so fast and dangerously driven that I couldn’t even capture a photo. It, too, had no number plates and was loaded with garbage.”

These incidents have reignited public concern about the growing menace of unregulated heavy vehicles in residential zones, especially in areas like Rajnagar Extension, which sees frequent movement of dumpers and garbage carriers. The lack of visible identification plates, reckless driving, and alleged negligence by law enforcement has left residents feeling unsafe and unheard.

Community Demands

  • Immediate investigation into the movement and regulation of dumpers in the area.
  • Suspension and inquiry against any traffic officers involved in letting violators go unchecked.
  • Installation of CCTV and speed regulation measures on key points like River Heights, Officer’s City, and Rama Heights junctions.
  • Public disclosure of action taken post the delivery rider’s death to ensure accountability.

“Today it’s someone else, tomorrow it could be one of us,” one resident commented in a local WhatsApp group, echoing the growing anxiety among families, particularly those with school-going children and elderly members.

It remains to be seen whether authorities act on the increasing citizen alerts or continue to turn a blind eye until another tragedy forces their hand.
