Ghaziabad: In a bid to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted celebration of the upcoming Chhath Puja, the Purvanchal Kalidas Navayuvak Vikas Samiti, representing Chhath Puja enthusiasts, has submitted a formal request to the District Magistrate. The appeal seeks a arrangements for Chhath Puja to be completed before Diwali holidays, a festival that spans 72 hours and holds immense significance for the devotees.

Chhath Puja is a deeply revered festival in the northern regions of India, especially in states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Devotees observe a rigorous fast and perform a series of rituals, including offering prayers to the sun god, as an expression of their faith and devotion.

One of the primary reasons cited for the request for a government holiday during Chhath Puja is the extended duration of the festivities. The 72-hour celebration involves various rituals, including fasting, offering arghya to the setting and rising sun, and taking a dip in sacred rivers or ponds. The presence of family members and a peaceful atmosphere are crucial for devotees to complete these rituals with devotion and precision.

Ashok Sah, the President of the organization, emphasized the importance of a government holiday for Chhath Puja, stating that it would enable devotees to perform all the rituals with ease. He added that the festival’s significance is deeply rooted in the collective celebration and the presence of family members.

The organization has appealed to the District Magistrate to ensure that all Chhath Puja preparations, including the construction of Chhath Ghats (ritual bathing places), are completed well before Diwali. This early completion would help in maintaining the sanctity and safety of the ghats and ensure that devotees have ample time to perform their rituals.

Members of the Samiti who attended the appeal included Deepak Kumar, Shreekant Singh, Vishnu Avasthi, Shriyansh Singh, Munna Kumar, Usha Pandey, Poonam Singh, Bina Gupta, Seema Singh, Radha, Sudha Tiwari, Madhu Tiwari, and Kanchan Singh.

As the appeal awaits a response from the District Magistrate, the Chhath Puja enthusiasts hope that their request will be considered, allowing the devotees to observe this sacred festival without any hindrance and with the peace and devotion it deserves.
