Protests Erupt in Ghaziabad Over Home Minister’s Controversial Statement on Dr. Ambedkar

Ghaziabad: A wave of protests has swept across the nation following Home Minister Amit Shah’s contentious statement about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha two days ago. In Ghaziabad, a large gathering took place at Bhim Chowk, located on Meerut Road in Ghukna, where members of the Dalit community and others joined hands to demand the Home Minister’s resignation and a public apology.

The Protest

The protest, led by Advocate Sachin Siddharth, spokesperson and former president of the SC/ST wing of the Samajwadi Party in Ghaziabad, saw spirited participation from people of various communities. Under the shadow of Dr. Ambedkar’s statue, the demonstrators raised slogans and expressed their indignation over the alleged remarks.

Advocate Siddharth also spearheaded the submission of a memorandum addressed to the Honorable President of India, urging intervention in the matter. The memorandum, signed by all attendees, was handed over to the in-charge of the Nandgram police station, who arrived at the protest site around 8 PM to accept it on behalf of the authorities.

Leaders Demand Accountability

Speaking at the event, Advocate Siddharth stated, “Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy is the foundation of our nation’s democracy and Constitution. Any disparaging remarks against him hurt the sentiments of millions of Indians. We demand that Amit Shah resign immediately and apologize to the nation.”

Community Support

The protest saw the participation of several prominent local figures, including Dharm Singh, Rajneesh Kumar, Mahendra Singh, Rajendra Bauddh, Rampal, Shashank Harit, Sunil Advocate, Umesh Kashyap, Bhushan Saini, Arvind Jatav, Montu, Akash Jatav, Sagar Jatav, Rajpal, Rahul, Om Prakash, Mukesh Kumar, Ajay Kumar, and Brahmpal Jatav.

The demonstrators vowed to escalate their protest if their demands are not addressed promptly. Plans for a larger march to raise awareness about the issue were also discussed.
