Parrot does online shopping by mimicking owner
Blow to the owner
Corienne Pretorius, who lives in the South London area, was shocked when a courier named after her arrived at her home, which was sent from an online shopping site on the grounds that she had ordered the same. Corienne Pretorius was baffled after a £10 order for gift boxes arrived at her house. Corienne could not understand at all when she had ordered this. At first she thought it might have been ordered by her husband or eight-year-old son, but it did not happen.
Parrot ordered
Even more surprising was the fact that the order was made in her name. After this, she got the biggest shock when she came to know that this order was done by her pet African gray parrot whom she calls Buddy. Now you must be thinking that how did this happen?
When the secret was revealed
The five-year-old parrot impersonated Corienne Pretorius’s conversation and ordered on Amazon via the Alexa app. The parrot activated her Amazon Echo smart speaker by impersonating her. The Alexa app can be voice activated and people can order takeaways and do online shopping on it and it responds to the name ‘Alexa’.
