Meerut: To curb accidents caused by the lack of visibility during inclement weather conditions, Meerut traffic police pasted reflector tapes and stickers about traffic awareness on vehicles in the city. The reflective tapes are designed to enhance visibility in low light and at night. When the back lights of vehicles do not function properly, the reflectors play an important role in alerting commuters driving in the same direction.
Dense fog conditions, during winter lead to a reduction in visibility and make city roads prone to accidents and the initiative was aimed at curbing mishaps. “We have started pasting these tapes on tractors, trucks and other vehicles. The reflective tapes are a necessity for vehicles like trucks and tractors as they are often the cause behind severe accidents and move on the roads without proper lights or reflectors. The reflective tapes are supposed to prevent drivers from hitting each other on roads by providing visual aid.
