October 21 is observed as the Police Commemoration Day across India in memory of the valiant Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who sacrificed their lives on this day in 1959 at Hot Springs, Ladakh, in the Northern Border region during a confrontation with the Chinese army. Every year, on this day, the entire Indian police fraternity pays homage to their departed colleagues who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

During the period from September 1, 2022, to August 31, 2023, 188 police personnel across India, including constables and officers from various states, central paramilitary forces, and other police units, made the supreme sacrifice while performing their duties. The entire police force in Uttar Pradesh joins the nation in honoring these brave souls who served selflessly and laid down their lives in the line of duty.

In the state of Uttar Pradesh, during the same period, three police personnel gave their lives while discharging their duties. They are remembered and their sacrifice is honored on this solemn day. Floral tributes were offered at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial as a mark of respect and remembrance.
