Meerut : First rain washes away Nagar Nigam, Govt’s claims

Meerut : Heavy rain in city has brought relief from the sweltering heat and humid weather but at the same time, it has once again exposed the poor infrastructure in Meerut.

“Southwest Monsoon has advanced into entire Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, some parts of Rajasthan, entire Delhi, some parts of Punjab and Haryana on the 30th June, 2022,” the Met department said in a Tweet.

The Meerut witnessed waterlogging on the first day of the Monsoon season. However, the showers that began on morning provided much-needed relief from the oppressive heat. However, the first rain exposed the tall claims made by the Nagar Nigam of de-silting of the city’s drains and the steps taken by them to prevent waterlogging during the rainy season.
