Major Relief for Commuters: GDA Clears Illegal Encroachments on Key Rajnagar Extension Road

Ghaziabad | June 5, 2025:
In a significant move aimed at easing daily traffic woes, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) today successfully cleared illegal encroachments along the 45-meter-wide road connecting Meerut Road to Banda Road via Rajnagar Extension. This stretch, a crucial arterial route for thousands of commuters, had long been plagued by traffic congestion and unauthorized commercial activity.

The encroachments, which had turned the busy road into a daily traffic bottleneck, were causing severe inconvenience to residents and travelers alike. Complaints from the public and multiple reports by the Traffic Police Department prompted the GDA to take decisive action. Acting on directives issued during a review meeting held on May 30, 2025, chaired by the Vice Chairman of GDA, the authority launched a full-scale anti-encroachment drive today.

Beginning at 10:00 AM, two special teams from Parivartan Zone-1 spearheaded the operation, which continued throughout the day. While the team faced resistance from some local developers and property owners, officials on the ground handled the situation efficiently, ensuring the uninterrupted progress of the drive.

“Today’s clearance operation is a step toward making Rajnagar Extension safer and more accessible for all. Removing encroachments is not just about clearing space—it’s about restoring public right of way,” said a senior GDA official present at the site.

The drive has freed a major stretch of the road from unauthorized stalls, building extensions, and temporary dairy setups that had mushroomed over the years. Residents of Rajnagar Extension and adjoining areas welcomed the move, expressing hope that the cleared space will improve traffic flow and enhance road safety in the region.

The GDA has affirmed its commitment to continue monitoring the area to prevent re-encroachments and ensure sustainable urban development.
