Major Fire in Ghaziabad’s Kanawani Slum Contained, 100 Shanties Saved by Quick Action of Firefighters

Ghaziabad : In a swift and coordinated response, the Fire Department of Ghaziabad successfully controlled a major fire in the Kanawani area, saving approximately 100 slum dwellings. The fire, which broke out in a plot full of scrap material, spread rapidly, putting the surrounding shanties at great risk.
At 11:58 AM, the Fire Station in Vaishali received an emergency call reporting the blaze. Without wasting any time, the Fire Department deployed a team consisting of the Chief Fire Officer, Fire Station Officers from Vaishali, and three fire tankers. Upon reaching the scene, they found the fire had engulfed a large area of scrap material, and the surrounding slums were already in danger of being consumed by the flames. Thick black smoke rose high into the sky, and the fire spread rapidly.

The fire units worked quickly, setting up long hose lines to fight the blaze. Realizing the urgency of the situation, the Chief Fire Officer ordered the dispatch of two additional fire tankers from the Kotwali Fire Station. A total of seven fire vehicles were deployed to control the fire. The fire-fighting team surrounded the fire from all sides, gradually bringing it under control.


Thanks to the prompt and efficient efforts of the firefighters, they managed to rescue around 100 shanties, preventing further loss of life and property. However, 18 shanties were completely destroyed in the fire, and two goats suffered injuries from the blaze.
The incident serves as a testament to the dedication and quick action of Ghaziabad’s fire department, who managed to save a significant portion of the slum dwellings despite the rapidly spreading fire.
