Leadership Tussle Erupts in Rajnagar Extension’s AOA Elections

Rajnagar Extension, Ghaziabad: A leadership dispute has taken center stage in one of Rajnagar Extension’s prominent residential societies, following an inconclusive attempt to form the new Apartment Owners Association (AOA) for the 2025–26 term.

The previous AOA’s tenure officially ended on March 31, 2025. In a bid to maintain continuity, a General Body Meeting (GBM) was held on March 23, during which ten members were selected to constitute the new AOA. However, instead of ushering in clarity and collaboration, the internal dynamics took a sharp turn when discussions to assign official posts hit a deadlock.

According to sources within the society, the ten members called for a closed-door meeting to decide on roles. What followed was a clash of interests, particularly surrounding the post of President. One group of five reportedly pushed for a candidate who had already served in the past two AOAs. The opposing faction argued that it was time for newer faces to lead, while the experienced members could offer guidance in a non-executive capacity.

The disagreement escalated when one contender for the President’s post allegedly made a bold declaration, asserting her intent to assume the role regardless of dissent. With no consensus reached and tensions rising, a second GBM was convened. In this meeting, residents collectively resolved to submit a formal application to the Deputy Registrar, requesting a fresh election process conducted through official procedures.

However, the situation took another contentious turn when one faction, despite knowing that not all members were present, went ahead with a meeting and unilaterally allocated posts, including that of President. This decision, seen by many as undemocratic and procedurally flawed, was met with sharp objection. The opposing group has since submitted a formal complaint to the Deputy Registrar, citing irregularities and demanding impartial intervention.

Such conflicts are not new in the residential circles of Rajnagar Extension. Observers point out that several societies in the area have witnessed similar power struggles during AOA transitions. According to housing norms, the Deputy Registrar is the only authority authorized to oversee fair and transparent elections in such scenarios.

As the matter now awaits regulatory review, residents are hopeful that official oversight will help restore order and pave the way for cooperative, transparent governance within their community.
