Indian Startups Are Changing The Way We Work In The World: Amitabh Kant

New Delhi (NewsReach) : NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Amitabh Kant said on Monday that Indian startups are bringing about a paradigm shift in the way the world operates. He also said that women’s entrepreneurship is a major vehicle for a more equal society.

Addressing an event organized by the Federation of Women (FLO) of industry body FICCI, Kant said that India currently has over 61,000 startups and 81 unicorns (startups with a valuation of over $1 billion).

“Indian startups are driving a paradigm shift in the way the world operates, especially in the newly emerging areas of health, nutrition and agriculture,” he said.

According to Kant, women-owned businesses and enterprises are playing a major role in the society and will soon lead to massive changes within the Indian startup environment.

“Women-based entrepreneurship is one of the important tools for realizing a more equitable society. The more women adopt entrepreneurship, the more it can become a catalyst for socio-economic change.

NITI Aayog CEO said that at present venture capital and private equity companies are supporting women startups.
