Gruesome Murder in Meerut: Youth Found Hanging, Police Investigating

Meerut: In a shocking incident, a young man was brutally murdered by strangulation with a sharp weapon in the Lohiya Nagar police jurisdiction of Meerut. Following the murder, the body was hung from a ceiling fan.

According to reports, the young man had returned home after offering morning prayers today. Subsequently, when other family members woke up and called him for tea, they received no response. After several attempts to get his attention, family members peered into his room and discovered his lifeless body hanging from a ceiling fan.

The sight of the young man’s body left his family members in shock and led to an outpouring of grief. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community. Promptly, the police were informed about the incident, and they have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The victim’s body was discovered in a room with a power loom in their house, located in Ashiana Colony, Gali No. 18, under the jurisdiction of the Lohiya Nagar police station. At the time of the incident, family members were present in the house. Preliminary investigation suggests the possibility of murder before the body was hung, and authorities are now awaiting the post-mortem report.

During the police inquiry, the victim’s mother revealed that as usual, the young man had left home for morning prayers at 6 a.m. He returned and went to his room. He remained inside the room until 8 a.m., and despite repeated calls for tea, he did not respond. When they peered through the window, they saw him hanging from a fan. The family called their neighbors, who, in turn, contacted the police. The police arrived at the scene and removed the body from the fan. It was discovered that the victim’s throat had been gruesomely slashed before he was hanged.

The victim, identified as Shahzad (26), was married four years ago, and he resided with his mother, younger sister Gulshan, and younger brother Akram. Shahzad’s father is deceased. The family alleges that Shahzad was murdered, claiming that his throat was slit by an assailant. Currently, the police are treating the case as a murder-suicide until further investigation.

It is worth noting that Shahzad had married a woman whom his family did not approve of, and there were frequent disputes over this matter. Just a few days ago, Shahzad had expelled his younger brother and his wife from the house. The younger brother had taken a rented room in the neighborhood to live with his wife.

Despite living separately, the younger brother frequently visited Shahzad’s house, asking his mother for money discreetly. When Shahzad learned about this, he protested, leading to conflicts within the family. A similar dispute had erupted three days prior to the tragic incident.

The forensic team is actively collecting evidence at the crime scene. The police have taken the younger brother into custody for questioning as they explore all possible angles of the case.
