Police officials clarified that these speed limits will be enforced strictly based on visibility conditions, particularly during late night and early morning hours when fog intensity is highest.

Fog and Rising Winter Risks in North India

Northern India, especially Delhi-NCR, has been witnessing dense fog combined with rising air pollution and smog, leading to dangerously low visibility on highways. Experts note that fog-related road accidents typically increase during December and January due to sudden whiteout conditions, delayed reaction times, and speeding.

Traffic authorities have reiterated that overspeeding in foggy conditions is one of the leading causes of fatal accidents, and adherence to advisory limits is crucial for public safety.

Police Appeal to Motorists

The Ghaziabad Traffic Police has appealed to all commuters to cooperate and follow traffic rules to ensure safe and smooth movement. Officials said that strict enforcement will be carried out and violations may attract penal action.
