Ghaziabad Police Arrests Youth for Brandishing Weapon in Viral Video, Swift Action Draws Praise
Ghaziabad : In a swift response to a viral video that surfaced on social media showing a youth brandishing a weapon, Ghaziabad Police have arrested the accused from Pratap Vihar. The youth, identified as Abhishek, was taken into custody by the Vijay Nagar Police after the video gained attention online and raised concerns about public safety.
According to ACP Ritesh Tripathi, the police initiated an investigation as soon as the video came to their notice. “With the help of technical surveillance and local intelligence inputs, the identity and location of the individual were traced,” he said. The accused was apprehended without delay.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the video was not recent but was intentionally circulated on social media platforms recently, possibly with the intent to show off or instigate fear. Despite its age, authorities deemed the content as a serious threat to law and order, prompting immediate legal action.
Police officials emphasized that such videos, whether old or new, can create panic and a sense of insecurity in society. “We cannot afford to ignore such acts that glorify violence or weapon possession. This arrest sends a strong message that the law will act against anyone threatening public safety,” said an officer close to the investigation.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and further interrogation is underway to determine if the accused is involved in any other criminal activity or group.
The Ghaziabad Police’s prompt action has been praised by citizens and local authorities, who believe that responsiveness to digital evidence is key in maintaining urban peace and order in the age of social media.
