Ghaziabad MBBS Student Trapped in War-Torn Iran, Family Pleads for Government Help

As tensions between Israel and Iran escalate into a near-war-like situation, a young medical student from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, finds himself caught in the crossfire, leaving his family back home living in a state of fear, uncertainty, and helplessness.
21-year-old Rizwan, a resident of Uttarakhand Vihar Society, Behta, Loni, had traveled to Tehran, Iran nearly a year ago to pursue his MBBS degree at the prestigious Tehran University. Now, amidst sirens, explosions, and collapsed buildings, Rizwan’s safety is in jeopardy.
“The Building We Lived In… It’s Gone”
Rizwan’s father, Mohammad Ali, a 53-year-old local grocer, shared his recent harrowing phone call with his son.
“On Sunday evening, he said he was going out for lunch around 4 PM. Moments later, he told me over the phone, ‘There are explosions everywhere… smoke all around… the building we were living in has collapsed.’”
Fearing for his son’s life, Mohammad Ali instructed him to immediately find a safer place. “After that, his phone was switched off,” he added, voice trembling with emotion.
The following day, the family received a brief call from an unknown number. Rizwan’s voice, amid chaos, simply said,
“The whole building came down in 7 minutes. I’m okay.”
The call disconnected abruptly, leaving the family even more anxious.
A Mother’s Unending Wait
Rizwan’s mother, Chaman Rani, has hardly slept or eaten in days. Ever since the news of the military strikes began making headlines four days ago, she has been praying constantly for her son’s safety.
“I just want him home. Every mother’s heart breaks when their child is in danger,” she says, holding back tears. “He is a bright student with dreams. I beg the government-please bring all the students back safely.”
A Plea for Government Action
The family is not alone in their fear. Dozens of Indian students are believed to be studying in Iran, many in Tehran itself. With communication lines disrupted and parts of the city heavily bombarded, parents across India are left clinging to hope.
Mohammad Ali, like many, is calling on the Indian government to intervene swiftly:
“We are ordinary people. We cannot do anything from here. Only the government can help bring our children home.”
#BringRizwanHome: Local Voices Join In
As news of Rizwan’s situation spreads, residents of Loni and Rajnagar Extension have started social media campaigns under hashtags like #BringRizwanHome, #SaveIndianStudentsInIran, and #RizwanInTehran, urging authorities to act before it’s too late.
Every Minute Matters
As geopolitical tensions rise, for families like Rizwan’s, every hour feels like a lifetime. While embassies may issue advisories, the ground reality is urgent and dangerous. The youth caught in these conflict zones are not just numbers; they are dreamers, healers, future doctors-our children.
🙏🏼 “May all our sons and daughters return safely. That’s all a parent can pray for.” – Chaman Rani
