Ghaziabad Girl Ties Rakhi to Prime Minister Modi, Receives Blessings to Become an Ideal Citizen

GHAZIABAD:
For Nancy Anand of Vikas Nagar, Loni, this year’s Raksha Bandhan turned into the most memorable day of her life. The Class 12 student had the rare honour of tying a rakhi on the wrist of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi, an experience she describes as “unreal and unforgettable.”
Nancy was among a select few invited to the Prime Minister’s residence through a special invitation from the PMO. Representing Arvachin Bharti Bhawan School, Delhi, she travelled to the capital with pride and excitement to participate in the heartwarming tradition.
Her father, Vinod Anand, an advocate at Loni Tehsil, said the entire family is overwhelmed with joy. “It is a matter of great pride for us and for Ghaziabad that our daughter got this opportunity,” he said.
Speaking about the meeting, Nancy recalled, “I still cannot believe I met the Prime Minister and tied a rakhi to him. I even asked him what his favourite food is, and he replied, ‘home-cooked khichdi.’ I was amazed that a leader who travels across the nation cherishes such simple tastes.”
During the meeting, Nancy also recited a poem she had written, concluding her interaction with a spirited ‘Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.’ She expressed her dream of serving the nation by becoming an IAS officer. “One must have strong determination to achieve their goals,” she said with confidence.
Since returning home, Nancy has been flooded with congratulatory messages from relatives, friends, and neighbours, all celebrating her achievement on this Raksha Bandhan — a day she says she will treasure forever.
