Ganges Water Supply Disrupted in Noida and Indirapuram Due to Maintenance
Ghaziabad: The supply of Ganges water to Vaishali, Vasundhara, Indirapuram, Siddharth Vihar colonies, and half of Noida will be completely disrupted from today. This action has been taken due to the cleaning and maintenance work on the Ganges Canal. There is limited water left in the Pratap Vihar and Siddharth Vihar plants.
The Water Department has requested the Municipal Corporation, the GDA (Ghaziabad Development Authority), and the Noida Authority to arrange for drinking water supply. The Irrigation Department has shut down the Ganges Canal until November 12. It is currently undergoing cleaning and maintenance, which will impact the supply of Ganges water.
The Noida Water Authority used to source water from the Dasna Ganges Canal. This water was then distributed to Vaishali, Vasundhara, Indirapuram, Siddharth Vihar colonies, and half of Noida. Due to the shutting down of the canal, the water supply from the plant will be severely impacted.
At present, only a small amount of water is left in the plant. The situation will continue until November 12. After the canal resumes operation, the Ganges water supply will be restored to these areas.
Umesh Shukla, the executive engineer of the Water Authority, explained that the cleaning and maintenance work on the Ganges Canal is necessary to ensure the long-term supply of clean water.
