Chinese Nationals In Pakistan: Beijing’s Strong Tone Regarding Attacks On Chinese Citizens In Pakistan, Said- Pakistan Should Stop Attacking Our People

New Delhi : China’s displeasure over the attacks on its citizens in Pakistan has come to the fore. China raised the issue with visiting Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and other top military officials in Beijing. Bajwa was told that the attack on Chinese nationals working for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor ([CPEC)] in Balochistan province should be stopped.

The Islamabad Police had recently decided to set up a Foreign Security Cell at the Central Police Office. According to the need, the staff and equipment will be arranged in this cell. It was also decided that the projects outside the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would also have the same security arrangements as the CPEC. On Sunday, a high-level delegation of the Pakistan Army led by General Bajwa met Chinese military officials. The Chinese contingent was led by the Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission, General Zhang Yuxia.

During this, both sides reaffirmed their “strategic partnership in these challenging times” and agreed to continue the regular exchange of views on issues of mutual interest. According to a statement by the Pakistan Army, a Pakistani military delegation visited China from June 9 to 12. There he held extensive discussions with senior officials of the Chinese military and other government departments.

The Baloch insurgents regularly target CPEC infrastructure projects, such as gas pipelines and power towers. They regard China as an imperialist power that wants to plunder the natural resources of Balochistan along with the government of Pakistan. A senior-level tri-services military delegation from Pakistan visited China from June 9 to 12 and held extensive discussions with senior officials of the Chinese military and other government departments.
