GCMMF’s decision on completion of one year

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has increased the prices of milk before the completion of one year. This price hike will be effective across all brands of Amul Milk. This includes gold, fresh, shakti, t-special, as well as cow and buffalo milk, etc.

Prices were increased in July 2021

Amul had earlier increased the prices of milk in July 2021. After a gap of about 7 months and 27 days, Amul has increased the milk prices.

Due to this increase in prices,

The statement given by the company has given a major reason for the increase in the price of milk. According to the company, the price of milk has been increased due to increase in cost of production.

Amul has said that the increase of Rs 2 is only 4 per cent increase, which is much less than the average food inflation. The company said that in the last two years, Amul has increased the prices of its fresh milk range by 4 per cent per annum.

The company says that due to increase in energy, packaging, transport and animal feed costs, milk production expenses have increased, which has increased the overall cost of operation.

According to the union, it distributes 80 paise to the milk producers out of every Re 1 it gets from the customers. That is, now the increase in prices will help in encouraging cattle farmers to produce more milk.
