Meerut : ADG Zone Rajeev Sabharwal along with Praveen Kumar, IG Range, Deepak Meena, DM and Rohit Sajwan, SSP reviews Kanwar Yatra Yatra arrangements and preparations with Meerut district officials.
They discussed how the flow of devotees / Dak Kanwar’s could be made hassle-free amid the ongoing construction of the Rapid-Rail project in Meerut City. ADG also emphasized providing adequate security arrangements for devotees, especially women kanwaria’s during their journey.
Meerut SSP Rohit Sajwan assured of elaborate security arrangements with CCTV cameras and drones keeping a close vigil on the yatra.
Reviewed the preparations for the yatra was briefed about the police bandobast and other security measures put in place.
“We will keep a watch by joining as kanwaria’s in the Yatra including women police personnel’s using body-worn cameras linked to the control room and drones. The police will also install face-detection cameras to identify and nab anti-social elements roaming in the procession’s route,” Rohit Sajwan said.
en-route Meerut lakhs of devotees from Western UP, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and other neighboring states visit Haridwar, Rishikesh and other destinations in Uttarakhand to fetch the holy water of Ganga. The devotees offer this holy water to their deity Lord Shiva on the day of Shivratri after covering hundreds of kilometres on foot.
