74-Year-Old SK Tyagi Steals the Show at Ghaziabad Badminton Tournament

Ghaziabad, May 17, 2025 : Age is just a number, and 74-year-old SK Tyagi proved it with flying colors by clinching the winner’s title in the 70+ age category at a local badminton tournament held in Sanjay Nagar, Ghaziabad.
Organized under the leadership of Narendra Singh Negi, the tournament saw enthusiastic participation from around 25 players, divided across three age categories. It wasn’t just a competition—it was a celebration of fitness, spirit, and community bonding.
Tyagi, a retired sub-inspector from the Uttar Pradesh Police, displayed impressive agility and determination throughout the tournament. “Age is just a number. It’s willpower and attitude that define your youthfulness,” Tyagi said after his victory, drawing applause from both players and spectators alike.
Another highlight was the presence of 68-year-old Vijay Kumar Wadhwa, a retired official from the Public Works Department, who not only competed but also actively encouraged younger players to take up the sport.
The winners were awarded symbolic prizes, including a special shuttle trophy presented to the victorious team—a gesture emphasizing sportsmanship over material reward.
