Uttar Pradesh Lawyers End Strike Following Government Agreement
Hapur: The state-wide strike by lawyers in protest against the police baton charges in Hapur has finally come to a conclusion. After negotiations between the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council and government officials, the government has acceded to several key demands put forward by the lawyers.
The agreed-upon measures include the removal of the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Hapur, the suspension of the Circle Officer (CO) and the Inspector, and the transfer of the ASP and CO to new postings.

Notably, the District Magistrate (DM) and SP in Hapur will not be transferred, addressing a concern raised during the negotiations. Furthermore, cases filed against lawyers during the protests will be withdrawn by the government.

In response to the lawyers’ concerns, a committee has been established to review the Advocate Protection Act. This strike had severely disrupted legal proceedings across the state, and its resolution is expected to bring relief to both the legal community and citizens alike.
