Union Bank of India Organises Walkathon in Meerut to Mark Vigilance Awareness Week 2025

Meerut : In an inspiring display of civic responsibility and public engagement, Union Bank of India, Zonal Office Meerut, observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 with great enthusiasm under the national theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.” The week-long observance, held from October 27 to November 2, featured multiple awareness activities promoting integrity, transparency, and ethical governance.
A highlight of the observance was a Walkathon organised on November 1, which began at Chaudhary Charan Singh Park and concluded at Kulwant Singh Stadium. The event was flagged off at 6:30 a.m. by Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh (IAS), District Magistrate of Meerut, in the presence of Ajay Kumar Singh, Chief Vigilance Officer, Union Bank of India, Central Office, Mumbai, and Archana Shukla, Zonal Head, Union Bank of India, Meerut.
More than 500 participants, including students from Bloosm School, bank officials, employees, customers, and prominent citizens—joined the Walkathon, raising slogans and holding placards to spread the message of collective responsibility in maintaining vigilance and transparency.
At the culmination of the event, Major General Sumit Rana symbolically planted a sapling at the stadium to mark the Bank’s commitment towards environmental and social responsibility. In continuation of this initiative, the Bank also conducted a plantation drive, planting 500 saplings across different locations in the district.
Speaking at the event, Chief Vigilance Officer Ajay Kumar Singh emphasized the importance of active public participation in eradicating corruption, stating that “vigilance is not just an institutional duty but a moral and social responsibility that must be shared by all citizens.”
Zonal Head Archana Shukla highlighted that the Bank remains steadfast in its mission to foster a culture of honesty, transparency, and accountability in both public and private sectors.
The Walkathon concluded on an uplifting note, with participants pledging to uphold the values of integrity and to contribute towards building a corruption-free, responsible, and vigilant society.
