Two major fire incidents reported, Meerut ill-prepared for fire incidents

Meerut : Delayed response, insufficient fire safety measures , shortage of workers and lack of water refilling stations make disaster mitigation difficult.

Even after two major fire accidents in Meerut yesterday, fire extinguishers are either expired or have pipelines but no connection inside many well-known areas of Meerut.

A major fire broke out at basement of PVS Mall in Shastri Nagar and Grand 5 Resort on NH 58. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and the fire has been doused. There was no causality reported, but goods and property worth lakhs was gutted in the fire, said police.

In another fire incident reported today in Meerut – Fire broke out in South Indian Bank ATM, at Delhi Road of Thana TP Nagar area. ATM machine and cabin were burnt due to fire. Several fire tenders were rushed to doused the fire.There is a possibility of burning of lakhs of cash due to the fire.
