Tragic Accident in Meerut: Four Burned to Death in Car Fire

UPDATE BY Meerut Police :

Meerut, Uttar Pradesh – In a heart-wrenching incident, four people, including a child, were burned to death in a car fire in Meerut on Sunday night. The tragic accident occurred around 9 PM on the Kanwar Marg in the Bhola Jhaal area of Jani police station jurisdiction.

According to Superintendent of Police (Rural), the incident took place when a Santro car, equipped with a CNG gas kit, caught fire while traveling on the canal route towards Haridwar. The victims were on their way from Delhi to Haridwar for a holy dip in the Ganges when the disaster struck. The fire engulfed the car so rapidly that the occupants had no chance to escape.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames and smoke billowing from the moving vehicle, which then came to a halt. Despite efforts from passersby to assist, the intensity of the fire made rescue impossible. It took emergency services about 40 minutes to extinguish the blaze, by which time the car was completely gutted, leaving behind four charred skeletons.

The police are currently on the scene conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Preliminary reports suggest a malfunction in the CNG kit may have triggered the blaze. The identities of the deceased remain unknown as the bodies were burned beyond recognition. Efforts are underway to identify the victims through forensic analysis and contact with possible relatives or acquaintances.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, and local authorities are urging CNG vehicle owners to ensure regular maintenance checks to prevent such tragedies. The community mourns the loss of life and extends condolences to the bereaved families.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses and more information becomes available.
